AIAS Illinois

AIAS Illinois is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign chapter of the national organization: American Institute of Architecture Students. As such we are actively involved in pursuing the goals of the national organization. These include promoting a student culture that strives for excellence in Architecural education, cross-disciplinary collaboration and community involvement. Getting involved in AIAS is also one of the few ways students can make their opinions known to bodies such as the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) that have a direct impact on our education and future roles as Architects.

AIAS Illinois has been one of the most sucessful chapters nationally, both in membership and activities within AIAS National. In 2002 AIAS Illinois proudly hosted FORUM, the annual meeting of the American Institute of Architecture Students, in Chicago. Entitled City Reborn, the event welcomed more than 1450 students, professionals, and academics from around the world. The attnedence is the highest in the AIAS history.
